VIDEO: ‘You Can’t Make Money Being A Singer’ — Seyi Shay Slams Nigerian Idol Contestant

A video of Seyi Shay, Nigerian singer, heavily criticising a 17-year-old Nigerian Idol contestant has surfaced online and gone viral.

The singer is one of the judges for the show’s sixth season alongside DJ Sose and Obi Asika.

The yet-to-be-identified teenager came out yesterday to make his presentation on the show.

But the songwriter, whose real name is Oluwaseyi Odedere, started laughing while the contestant was presenting.

In her assessment after he had finished his rendition, Sheyi Shay described his “performance as terrible.”

The 35-year-old also told the teenager that he should not have auditioned for the show in the first place, adding that he “cannot make money being a singer.”

“I am laughing because I can’t just believe what I just heard. Who told you to come for the show’s audition. You should go back and tell them they’re not your friends. That was not a good one. You have a sweet, token voice but your performance is terrible. You’re never going to make money being a singer,” she said.
