University of Lagos (UNILAG) student Rhema Joseph Ahonis is gearing up to make an ambitious attempt to establish a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
Announcing his endeavor on social media earlier in November, the 27-year-old, who is a 200-level Theatre Arts student and a gospel singer, revealed that the five-day singing marathon will kick off on Saturday, November 25, at LAMP Studio in UNILAG, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos, and is scheduled to conclude on November 30.
Ahonis is inviting support from Nigerians as he aims to surpass the existing world record set by India’s Sunil Waghmare 11 years ago.
Waghmare achieved a remarkable 105-hour singing marathon from March 3 to 7, 2012. During his attempt, a variety of popular Indian songs were sung, with no repetition within a 4-hour period.
While it remains uncertain whether Ahonis has officially notified the Guinness World Records about his record attempt, he joins a growing list of Nigerians who have undertaken endeavors to establish new world records in 2023.
