Talented Nigerian singer and Grammy award-winner, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has shared her aspirations of venturing into the film industry.
In a recent interview with BBC Capital Xtra London, the Oscar-nominated artist revealed her interest in taking on acting roles, particularly those of single mothers.
Raised by a single mother in Lagos, Tems expressed her readiness to explore the world of acting, mentioning that while she is not immediately prepared, she is confident in her acting abilities.
She emphasized her desire to portray single-mother roles, emphasizing that these characters need not be limited to struggling single mothers but could also include more dynamic and even mysterious personas, such as gangster single mothers.
Tems’ interest in acting aligns with a growing trend of Nigerian musicians considering involvement in the film industry, following mentions by artists like Davido, Wizkid, and Mr Eazi, although their roles may extend beyond acting to include production and other aspects of the film world.
