Popular Nigerian Afrobeat artist, Seun Kuti, found himself in a heated altercation with a man named Solomon Idowu at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of Friday, was captured in a now-viral video. Seun Kuti was seen engaged in a verbal exchange with Idowu, even hindering him from presenting his passport for boarding a plane to the US.
The confrontation escalated as Idowu, reacting to the situation, threatened to take action against the Afrobeat singer, asserting his American nationality and warning of consequences. In response, Seun Kuti stood firm, insisting that Idowu would not be allowed to leave until their case was resolved in Nigeria.
In a subsequent video, Idowu affirmed that Seun Kuti’s safety would not be jeopardized if he traveled to Chicago, expressing regret over the heated exchange.
He emphasized that any harm to the Afrobeat star would not come from him and was a result of miscommunication, stating, “If anything happens to Seun in Chicago, I will be responsible.
If it comes from me, it will be never. Because of miscommunication and I threatened his life.”
