Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello recently expressed her stance on relationships, emphasizing that she cannot be in a relationship with a man who restricts her from working.
During a conversation with Stephanie Coker on the ‘Me, Her & Everything Else’ podcast, Shaffy highlighted her belief that while men are traditionally viewed as providers, women should also contribute financially to the home.
She asserted that even if she were to settle down with a billionaire, she would not compromise her independence by becoming a stay-at-home wife. Shaffy explained, “I think a man was raised to be a provider.
To be the one; the king. If you are the king, usually people go to the king for direction. So as a woman, I want to have my own. So that way, I can be of help when you need me. But I must have my own.
I cannot date a man who says stop working.”
Moreover, Shaffy conveyed that even in the scenario of being with a billionaire, she would still engage in meaningful work because her identity is integral to the relationship.
She asserted, “But to be honest with you, even if you are a billionaire and you put me in a hole, I still have to do something.
Because the reason you fell in love with me is because of who I am now. So I am not going to demote myself because of that.”
