Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Split Celebs

Ever since former members of the British Royal Family, Prince Harry, and his wife Meghan Markle, granted an exclusive interview to the popular talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, it has continued to generate diverse reactions.

In the interview, the couple had stated that the royal family did not protect them enough from the British press and that Markle suffered discrimination on account of her race.

Though the ‘dramatic personae’ of this real-life drama are in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, the issue has generated intense debate among Nigerians on social media. Some Nigerian celebs have also commented on the issue, with some commending Prince Harry for standing by his wife against abuse, while some berated the couple for not being ‘loyal to their family.

Media personality, Toke Makinwa, wrote on her Instagram page, “Before you come out to support Meghan, please make sure the wives married to your family are not going through hell too. Some of you hate your brother’s wife but are quick to crucify the British royal family. Charity begins at home. Let that woman breathe.

“There might not be racism in your family but there is classism. Your own mother is wicked to your brother’s wife. You think she is spending all your brother’s money or controlling him, yet you are trying to fix the royal family’s problems? Fix your own first.”

Another media personality and a one-time winner of Big Brother Africa, Uti Nwachukwu, however, felt people should always stand by their family, regardless of the situation. He wrote on Twitter, “Family first always. You see this love thing, if it makes you turn your back on family, then watch out.
