Veteran Nollywood actor, John Ikechukwu Okafor, known as Mr. Ibu, has revealed his battle with a life-threatening illness from his hospital bed.
This revelation comes after he celebrated his 63rd birthday with his wife, Stella Maris Okafor, and other family members in the hospital.
Mr. Ibu had been absent from the spotlight due to his health issues. In 2019, he disclosed that he was poisoned by individuals from his village who were envious of his successful career.
In 2022, he was diagnosed with diabetes and kidney failure, leading to life-saving surgery at the Zenith Medical and Kidney Center in Abuja.
Now, from his hospital bed, Mr. Ibu has made a distressing appeal for help, expressing concerns that his legs might be amputated. He shared his bank details, emphasizing his desire to avoid amputation.
In his words, Mr. Ibu stated, “I have been down for so many weeks, all I’m hoping for is your prayers and assistance.
I’ve been in the hospital, and as I speak to you, I’m still lying down in the hospital. The medical director says that in case his new idea doesn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg.
Just see me; if they cut off my leg, where will I go to? Please, be in prayers for me, talk to God Almighty; I don’t want my leg to be cut off. God bless you.”
One of his children, a lady, also appealed for financial assistance as Mr. Ibu continues to fight for his life.
In her words, she said, “I have never had to ask for help online in my life! Please, this one time, I am calling on everyone to come and support daddy @realmribu in the best way we can: financially, in prayers, in faith, and belief. Every way possible! Thank you.”
Mr. Ibu’s health battle has raised concerns among his fans and well-wishers, who are rallying to provide support in his time of need.
