A former gang member, Duane “Keefe D” Davis, pleaded not guilty in a US court to charges related to the murder of rap legend Tupac Shakur.
Davis, a former member of the South Side Crips gang, had long claimed involvement in the murder but denied the charge of murder with a deadly weapon intended to promote or assist a criminal gang during a court hearing in Las Vegas.
Prosecutors revealed they wouldn’t seek the death penalty if Davis is convicted. Tupac Shakur was killed in a gang-related feud on September 7, 1996.
The case garnered global attention, and Davis’s previous statements may be considered in the trial, according to Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson.
