In a new video shared online, the renowned Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, was captured marking his 62nd birthday from a hospital bed, surrounded by his family.

The video, posted on his official Instagram account, depicted the ailing actor dressed in hospital attire, seated on the hospital bed. His family members gathered around and sang the birthday song to him.

In front of him, there was a cart carrying his birthday cake and beverages. Although visibly unwell, he quietly mouthed the song lyrics while holding a knife to cut the cake.

During the celebration, Mr. Ibu appeared uncomfortable, continuously shaking one of his legs while trying to remain seated. His other leg, which was extended, appeared swollen and in poor condition.

Unfortunately, this hospital visit is not the actor’s first. Mr. Ibu has faced multiple life-threatening situations and has lived to tell the tale.

In 2020, he revealed that he was poisoned by some of his employees in an alleged attempt on his life.

The incident occurred in his hometown in Enugu, where he was physically assaulted in his office, and poison was forced into his mouth. Fortunately, his dancers and associates rushed him to a hospital.

In 2022, Mr. Ibu shared that he had been hospitalized for several days after being poisoned during an entertainment event in Abuja.

He recounted the incident, saying, “I just got poisoned again. It seems my enemies are using me to rehearse (their powers).

This time, I wasn’t poisoned in the village; I was poisoned in Abuja last week at an entertainment event. I really cannot explain how I was poisoned because it was a gathering of people, though it was not a big event.”
