Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently underwent surgery due to a knee injury sustained during mixed martial arts (MMA) training for an upcoming competition.
The injury involved a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), a common issue associated with sudden twisting or hyperextension of the knee during activities that require rapid changes in direction, jumping, or landing.
Zuckerberg shared images of himself on Instagram while in a hospital bed, showing his left leg in a supportive brace following the surgery.
He explained that the procedure was necessary after the ACL tear during his training for an MMA fight scheduled for early next year.
The 39-year-old tech mogul expressed his gratitude towards the medical professionals who conducted the surgery and the entire healthcare team responsible for his care.
In his Instagram post, Zuckerberg said, “Tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me.
I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that is delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thanks to everyone for the love and support.”
