Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, has voiced his concerns about the allocation of funds for new vehicles for members of the National Assembly.
The controversy arose as the Assembly planned to purchase 2023 model Toyota Prado vehicles for 469 members, a move that drew criticism from the public.
Senate Committee on Services Chairman, Sunday Karimi, defended the procurement by highlighting the poor state of Nigerian roads as the reason for the purchase.
In response, Mayorkun took to his Snapchat page to urge lawmakers to prioritize road repairs over acquiring new vehicles.
He emphasized the urgent need for road improvements in the country and expressed his frustration with the deplorable condition of the Lekki-Epe Expressway.
Mayorkun’s message called on lawmakers to address the critical issue of road infrastructure before focusing on acquiring new SUVs, emphasizing that the state of the roads should take precedence over personal vehicles.
