Eniola, the physically challenged hawker who gained assistance from Brain Jotter, the skit maker, has admitted to being a man after a blogger claimed that he disguised himself as a woman to deceive people into giving him money.
Brain Jotter shared his encounter with Eniola, a hawker in Lagos, who revealed he is also a makeup artist. Following their conversation, Jotter decided to support Eniola’s makeup business by transferring N400,000 to him.
However, a few hours later, a blogger alleged that Eniola is a man named Sultan, posing as a woman to manipulate others into providing financial assistance.
In response to the blog post, Brain Jotter expressed disappointment, stating that “bro deceived us all.”
When contacted by newsmen, Eniola confirmed his gender as male and explained that he portrays himself as a woman because he needs help.
He shared his challenging upbringing, noting that he was abused by his family, born disabled, and disowned by his mother.
Eniola recounted how he started making and selling beads to survive, later transitioning to learning makeup in Osun. He revealed dressing as a woman was a way to disguise his identity from his abusive family.
“My family members later saw me and started beating me so that is why I started disguising myself so my parents would not recognize me,” he added.
Eniola shared an incident where a client refused to pay him because he was dressed as a man, prompting him to continue dressing as a woman to succeed in his makeup business.
Despite the controversy, he emphasized the challenges he faced and the necessity of disguising his identity for survival and success in his endeavors.
